International folklore festival

The discovery of an exceptional aspect of Peru

The time has already come to work on the next festival...

No big theme has been scheduled yet, nevertheless, one night will probably be dedicated to gypsies and tziganes, most certainly starring Dhoad Gypsies from Rajasthan, the Hungarian group Romengo, with its moving singer Monika, and a Spanish group from Andalusia. That will probably be some very hot, very lively and extremely varied show, despite the common nomad origin of all the participants.

Four outstanding groups are already getting ready to come :

• A university troop form North Ossetia,as part of the France – Russia year 2010 project , to express the spectacular traditions of Caucasian people,
  
  
• An official delegation from Chinese Mongolia, a region with unique cultural wealths, some of which are already part of the brand new Intangible World Heritage,
  
  
• The National Venezuelan Dance Company, the best in the country, which was only presented once in all the festival history,
  
  
• La Compaña de musicas y danzas del milenario folklore inka, probably the most representative group of all, the most dynamic in all Peru, with a wonderful performance of marinera, scissors dancers, altiplano dances and a remarkable part about the Amazonian Forest folklore.
  

As far as it is concerned, Montignac festival is getting ready to invite a mixed delegation of drums and dancers from Rwanda and Burundi, whom we would gladly welcome for the 38th edition.

One or two European troops will most certainly complete this attractive programme...
