International folklore festival

The project was developed over several years, the Musée Spectacle dedicated to world traditional music came into being in May 1997. Thousands of music lovers and pupils have already visited it, as well as hundreds of people whose curiosity was excited by the impressive totem pole standing at the entrance. All agree on this: it’s a unique and original place which arouses enthusiasm. There are many reasons for this:

• The aisle of a church now gone, was completely rehabilitated.
  
  
• The collection of about 600 items was clearly displayed by André Bride.
  
  
• The staircase was turned into a real piece of art, with a huge fresco (6,50 x 10 m) from the South African N’Débélé artist Isa Kabini. It’s the only N’Débélé art piece that can be admired outside South Africa.
  
  
• The presence of a magical room where 5 oversized instruments, created by Robert Hébrard, a French instrument maker and musician are presented, instruments on which visitors can try their talent. The display of this room is pure enchantment.
  
  
• An automated steel-band plays on the first floor, a creator of Pierre Bastien, another French musician, and faces the video of a real steel-band performing.
  
  
• A video in the last room presents huge and typical images of the Montoire festival.
  
  

André Bride, scenographer, and Jean-François Proux, the project initiator, intended to create a magical and new place, not to mention unique in the world, which would combine conviviality and interactivity... The Montoire festival can be proud of the continuation it is able to find thanks to Musikenfête.
